Can you provide support to a local ESOL class programme for those who do not speak English as a first language? ESOL Support Volunteers help established tutors with the running of classes by providing support for learners during classes.
Typical duties will involve:
- Developing knowledge and understanding of clients specific ESOL needs
- Keeping accurate and up-to-date records
- Attending appropriate training arranged by Fife Council
- Maintaining regular communication with the ESOL Coordinator
Experience required
Good language awareness is required for this role in addition to patience and good communication skills.

Travel expenses
Public transport and mileage rates will be reimbursed on a monthly basis.
Support
Training details
Volunteers will be given an opportunity to meet with the tutor that they will support. They will also have a chance to meet learners and observe a class before starting. The tutor will prepare the materials for the volunteer, who will then be tasked with supporting one or more learners.
On-going training and support will be provided.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 16
Availability
Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
