Compassionate Neighbours volunteers are matched with people who may share similar interests, hobbies and geography, in the hope of developing genuine, caring friendships; which will ultimately change the lives of those who come together and strengthen the communities they live in.
Experience required

Be honest, trustworthy and reliable
Have a good understanding of personal boundaries
Be respectful of confidentiality at all times
Understand and follow St Columba’s Hospice guidelines and policies that apply to Compassionate Neighbours
Understand and hold close our values of Respect, Trust, Partnership and Care & Compassion
Travel expenses
You will be entitled to claim travelling expenses incurred as a Compassionate Neighbour. Expenses are paid monthly via BACS.
Support
Training details
Pre-training reading. Face to face session at St Columba’s Hospice or in a community setting and a follow-up session.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
