Compassionate Neighbours

Compassionate Neighbours volunteers are matched with people who may share similar interests, hobbies and geography, in the hope of developing genuine, caring friendships; which will ultimately change the lives of those who come together and strengthen the communities they live in.

Experience required

Have a kind heart
Be friendly and compassionate
Enjoy meeting new people and building meaningful bonds
Have good listening skills
Be honest, trustworthy and reliable
 Have a good understanding of personal boundaries
 Be respectful of confidentiality at all times
 Understand and follow St Columba’s Hospice guidelines and policies that apply to Compassionate Neighbours
 Understand and hold close our values of Respect, Trust, Partnership and Care & Compassion

Travel expenses

You will be entitled to claim travelling expenses incurred as a Compassionate Neighbour. Expenses are paid monthly via BACS.

Training details

Pre-training reading. Face to face session at St Columba’s Hospice or in a community setting and a follow-up session.
