Childrens Panel Practice Advisor

Fife Area Support Team is looking for enthusiastic people to join the team as volunteer Panel Practice Advisors. Your role would be to support Panel Members through feedback to ensure the strongest possible decisions are being made for They are looking for people who have good assessment, observation, and communication skills. Above all else the are looking for people who care about making a difference in the lives of children and young people attending hearings in Scotland.

Experience required

Attitudes: Enthusiastic, Committed to securing the rights of children and young people and improving their outcomes and experiences.

Skills: good observation, assessment and communication skills. Effective leadership, ability to manage conflict, skills in influencing and negotiating.
Full training provided to enhance skills which are transferable from/to the workplace.

Travel details

A blended approach to all aspects of the role, participation will be face to face and digital.
Face to Face Hearings are held at SCRA, Albany House, Glenrothes.
Face to Face Meetings are predominately held in Fife House, Glenrothes.

Travel expenses

In line with CHS Expense policy volunteers can claim mileage/ public transport expenses. Expenses are submitted via bespoke digital system to Clerk for approval and are paid monthly. Subsistence expenses can also be claimed dependent on the length of time undertaking voluntary role. Full details issued in induction.

Training details

Mixture of Self led Online Trainign Modules and online facilitated training provided by the Learning Academy in initial induction. On-going training available Locally and Nationally in a mix of formats.

Support network of Panel Practice Advisors Locally and Nationally.

On-going Support from Area Support Team.


Wellbeing support from Health Assured.
