Community Volunteer - Shopping and prescription Service

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help with our shopping and prescription service. This essential service ensures that those struggling to get out the house or who aren’t fully able to get a shop for themselves can get a weekly shop and maintain independence and have agency of their own shopping. Volunteers will be added to a Whatsapp group where call outs will be made for the shops that week. If the volunteer is available then they offer to do the shop and a member of staff will email the service users details and shopping list, the volunteer with then do the shopping then deliver it the service users’ home then you will be reimbursed for the shop and your millage. This is role is perfect for anyone who wants to help out and make a difference but can’t commit to set weekly time slots.

The opportunity takes at multiple location across South Lanarkshire
East Kilbride

Travel expenses

The volunteer will fill out a monthly expenses sheet for petrol/diesel and will be be reimbursed 45p per litre.

Training details

We will go through 4 week in duction period, with regular calls and check ins.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18
No Gender Restriction, UK drivers License or able to get from shop/pharmacy with goods to the service users home. Someone who doesn’t mind traveling to different parts of East Kilbride.

Frequency & commitment
The volunteer is free do the shop any time on the agreed day within working day hours. This applies to expense payment frequency

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
