Retail Receptionist

The Warehouse Receptionist Role supports our hospice shops by helping to receive
donations into our warehouse to support the onwards sale across all stores:
→ Accepting donations at the Reception area in a polite and courteous manner.
→ Promoting our Gift Aid scheme to all our donors and offering each donor the
opportunity to enhance the value of their donation by joining the scheme.
→ Be willing to give out hospice information and talk informatively about the work of
the hospice
→ Handle questions, enquiries and any donations in a professional manner
→ Process Gift Aid applications through our computerised tilling system – full training
will be given.
→ Transfer received goods to relevant categories for onward processing.
→ Support Warehouse personnel with stock requests from individual shops and pick
relevant goods to make up and fulfil the orders
→ Ensure donated goods are stored safely and securely within the warehouse in the
correctly designated bays
→ Dispose of un-saleable/damaged stock according to retail policies and guidelines.
→ Transfer items for disposal into the waste bins at the warehouse ensuring that no
hazards are created from damaged goods
→ Comply with Health & Safety procedures, the Volunteer Policy and any other
relevant policies and retail guidelines
→ Attend relevant training and team meetings
→ Adhere to the relevant policies and procedures of the hospice.

Experience required

An understanding of the services the hospice can offer people with a life-limiting
illness.
→ Good interpersonal skills
→ Be a team player and be willing to work within guidelines provided
→ Be responsible and reliable
→ Ability to keep up to date with hospice service provision developments
→ Willingness to uphold the values of the hospice



Volunteers (aged 12-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
