Castle Home Hub (Big Hoose partnership) - Cupar

‘The Big Hoose’ is a project whereby items which have been donated from companies are distributed to families in need via a referral process.
Castle Furniture run a medium hub in both their Cupar and Glenrothes branch. The hub is stocked with things like baby formula, nappies, wipes, clothes, shoes, food, bedding, towels and more. The ‘Big Hoose’ volunteer role involves receiving deliveries and stocking of shelves, preparing orders, transferring stock, and monitoring of referrals received.

Castle Furniture have a Hub Coordinator who will support and work alongside all volunteers.

Experience required

Good organisational skills for maintenance of space as well as the ability to load and offload large items to and from a vehicle. This role also requires a willingness to be adaptable as every day will be slightly different and a ‘can do’ attitude is imperative.

Travel expenses

Public transport and mileage rates will be reimbursed on a monthly basis.

Support
Training details

All volunteers will be initially provided with around 1-2 hours induction covering everything from role specifics, Expectations and Boundaries, Health and Safety, Manual Handling and everything else needed to succeed in the role. PVG checks will be carried out by Castle Furniture at no cost to the volunteer. Continued support will be provided throughout by the coordinator and opportunities for continual ongoing training depending on the needs of the role and personal interests.
