CSREC are a race equality and human rights charity supporting ethnic minority communities in Central Scotland for over 40 years. We are currently based in Stirling, but we cover the whole Central Scotland area. We offer outreach sessions in both Falkirk and Clacks. CSREC are working to improve the lives and outcomes for people from ethnic minority backgrounds, working to end discrimination and facilitating partnerships between local communities for a Central Scotland where everyone is treated fairly, with respect and dignity, and enjoys equal opportunities to thrive. We work in four key areas of racial justice and human rights: Complaint aid; Policy Development, Community Development (capacity building and active citizenship).
After an exciting three years we now need dedicated people to join our board of directors and help with governance and management of the organisation. In particular, we are seeking to improve the quality and capacity of the Board of Directors to ensure it can better provide strategic direction to the organisation and its work.
As part of this, CSREC wishes to attract committed and suitably qualified individuals or those willing to learn, from different communities onto its Board. They must demonstrate good knowledge of issues affecting people under the Protected Characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and beliefs, sex and sexual orientation) and be keen to work with others to address these.
We would like to attract forward thinking individuals with competencies and experiences in the following areas:-
- Equalities in general
- Minority ethnic issues and concerns
- Voluntary sector management and governance: Active and willing to work
- Law / legal matters / constitution / company House and charity law
- Fundraising and Resource mobilisation, Financial management & Business Plans
- Local and national public service management experience
- Academics and research
- Public Relations including Public speaking and public relations
- Lobbying & Advocacy
- Human Resources Management: Supporting Staff
- Financial Administration and planning
CSREC is keen to attract people from diverse communities and particularly encourage women and young people to join the Board. They must be interested in advocating for the rights of all people with specific emphasis on a victim centred approach to complainant aid.
As a Director of CSREC you will be at the forefront of challenging inequality and promoting human rights. You will work with others to establish programmes and projects that will change the lives of a large number of people for the better. You will be part of a dynamic and high profile organisation committed to promoting peace, justice by bringing together diverse people to build cohesion and minimise social fragmentation and exclusion by building community cohesion.
