Fairway Fife
- VO71158
Fairway Fife is a Peer Mentoring Charity supporting young adults with learning disabilities and autism from 16 years of age. They recognise that all people, regardless of ability or disability, have unique gifts and strengths to contribute positively to their community. By recruiting, training, and professionally supporting committed volunteers of a similar age (Peer Mentors), their members are helped to live their dreams by accessing everyday experiences. This could be as simple as socialising in the community, outdoor activities, sports, creative arts, or other activities relating to health & wellbeing.
Whether you want to share your skills and experience with others or are looking to build confidence to develop new skills, volunteering as a peer mentor is a perfect starting point. Their professional and experienced facilitators support all their volunteers to ensure they gain the valuable life & work-related experience required to help secure further education opportunities or employment in the future.
From mentoring in small groups at social events to large team sporting events, mentors can develop at a pace that suits them best and gain the relevant experience that suits their needs. Mentoring with Fairway Fife also allowallows volunteers to connect with other professionals and organisations we work in partnership with. There are many opportunities available to Peer Mentors, such as completing Youth Achievement Awards, Saltire Awards, Foundation Apprenticeship & Career Ready Placements etc. - Not to mention making new friends, learning new skills, and having fun - all for free!!
Experience required
Volunteers must have an openness to people with disabilities, non-judgemental attitude, a willingness to help others strive to fulfil their own potential and dreams and an ability to recognise each individual's talents and strengths. Peer Mentors also need to be reliable and have the availability to commit to training and other personal development opportunities.
