Footcare Support Volunteer

Tip Top Toes is a low-cost toenail cutting and foot care service run by a dedicated community group in Carnoustie. The service is offered currently on a Thursday morning (by appointment only) for anyone unable to cut their own toenails and with no serious underlying medical conditions.

A much valued and in demand service solely provided by volunteers who have received a programme of instruction on toenail cutting, filing and foot care checks, by qualified NHS Podiatrists. Volunteers are required to help run this not-for-private-profit alternative foot care option for people who cannot manage their own foot care needs. Suitable for volunteers aged 16 and over. No health related experience required. Training and guidance will be provided. May suit someone looking to gain experience for a health & social care related role or medical training interest but suitable to anyone able and keen to assist.

No skills required as training will be provide. Toe cutting might suit people who have had some medical carer back ground, however this is not a requirement

Training details

A full days training will be supplied by the Podiatry team from Carnoustie Health Centre. This will be followed by the podiatrist shadowing the nail volunteers.

Minimum age: 15

Frequency & commitment
3 to 4 hous a week

Volunteers (aged 15-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
