Youth Befriender

As a Youth Befriender you will offer friendship and help, introduce social activities to young people with Cystic Fibrosis. You would help introduce the Butterfly Trust and clarify the nature of the support offered as well as developing a supportive relationship with the young person and their family. You would facilitate discussion around difficulties or concerns being experienced by the young person and offer information about the support available from the Trust and other agencies. We would need you to keep a suitable record of activities undertaken and send monthly recording forms to the Young Persons Support Organiser. You would also be expected to attend team meetings and training sessions organised by the Trust. In return you will receive full training initially and regular re-training sessions in certain areas. It is anticipated that our Youth Befrienders will make a contribution for at least a year after your induction.
