Volunteer Befriender

This is an opportunity to enhance the life experience of Young Carers in Fife by 1 to 1 befriending in the community. Fife Young Carers support children and young people ages 0 to 25 who are unpaid carers. These young people look after family members who are ill or have a disability; this can have an impact on the time they have simply to be young, to do the things that children and young people should have the time and opportunity to do. As a volunteer befriender you could be part of the range of support services that Fife Young Carers offers to over 1200 children who perform caring roles in their homes. If you are empathic, outgoing, friendly and have a few hours to spare to make a difference, please contact us for further details. PVG check and training are provided.

Experience required

Non-judgemental, empathic, friendly and willing to go out and about with young people in accordance with their interests and abilities.

Travel details

Befriending will take place in the community at locations arranged by the parties themselves in partnership with FYC; travel expenses will be reimbursed to ensure volunteers are not out of pocket.
