Our community transport service helps older people to get out and about when walking or public transport is not an option.
Main duties include escorting clients from their home to the car and providing transport for a variety of reasons. These can be taking the client to visit family or friends, go to a lunch club, shopping or to an appointment. A friendly helpful approach is all that is needed. This role is flexible and depends on your availability.
Experience required
Friendly personality, understanding of the needs of older people, ability to observe and identify areas of concern. Good communication and listening skills, non judgmental attitude and good confidentiality.
Travel details
Shetland wide.
Travel expenses
45p per mile or public transport costs.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
Needs a driving licence and an appropriate vehicle.
MIDAS clearance would be useful but not essential.
Frequency & commitment
Flexible
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
