Gig Buddies Volunteer

Want to get out to more gigs?
Gig Buddies with Thera Trust pairs volunteers to adults with a learning disability based on the gigs you both love going to!
This can be music, theatre, sport, or just going for coffee. It’s whatever your ‘gig’ is! Gig Buddies pairs get out together once a month to get to know each other and enjoy their shared passion together. You’ll also communicate regularly and plan your events together. The role requires roughly 4-6 hours per month, having a chat and getting out!

Volunteer expenses are paid and we have relationships with a number of venues/event organisers that offer loads of great opportunities to our pairings, including DF Concerts, King Tuts, The Edinburgh Fringe and International Festivals, The RSNO, National Theatre Scotland, Sneaky Pete’s and more!

Experience required

At Gig Buddies, we don’t require our volunteers to have any previous experience in a supporting role. However, if you are thinking of applying to become a Gig Buddy, we do ask that you are:
• Able to meet with your buddy roughly once or twice a month.
• Able to commit to a day of training.
• Friendly and kind, with a good sense of humour.
• Willing to get to know someone and develop a friendship with them.
• Proactive and reliable.
• Around for at least a year.

Travel expenses

Each volunteer has an annual expense budget of £120.
