Notetaker

At Access Orkney, we believe that everyone should have equal access to the community and opportunities. Our mission is to create an inclusive environment where disabled individuals can fully participate and thrive. We envision a future in which disability is not a barrier, but rather a celebration of diversity. We are looking for a notetaker to take minutes for the secretary.

Our meetings take place every two months, usually on a Monday, and lasts for around 90 minutes.

What could a volunteer gain from the experience?

This would be an opportunity to support disabled people to improve access and inclusion in Orkney. All the members either have a disability, or are carer to a disabled person, or someone who has a long-term health condition. You would gain an awareness and an understanding of challenging issues that disabled people faces daily.

Experience required

The volunteer should be able to attend the meetings, to listen and to note down key

decisions and points. You will need to have a good knowledge of English and have

basic skills in Word. You will need to be quick and accurate and have neat writing. After the meetings, you will need to type up the notes and to email the minutes to the secretary for distribution. A knowledge of disability awareness would be advantageous.
