CAB Volunteer General Adviser

Citizens Advice Bureaux are local, independent charities that provide free and confidential advice and information whoever you are and whatever your problem.

As a Volunteer General Adviser you will support members of the local community with a variety of enquires, such as:

• Benefits


• Employment


• Consumer


• Relationships


• Housing


• Crisis Supports


And much more!


You will help to empower clients to understand their rights and what options they have available to make informed decisions. Each day as a generalist adviser will come with new and interesting learning opportunities. Generalist advisers provide support to clients in the local community by telephone, face to face appointments and email advice. This will be done after researching information on client's various queries with the use CAS databases and other online information services so good IT skills are essential. General Adviser's will also be expected to upkeep client and case records to required standard.


Full training and ongoing support will be given to General Advice volunteers

Training details

You will complete an online training module either in your own time or can be done as a crash course at certain times. This will be completed along side shadowing and supported interviewing.
