Child Contact Centre Volunteer

Oshay’s Centre is the home of Oshay's Brain Domains CIC which focuses on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) education and advocacy. It provides education to professionals, schools, parents, and children about what FASD is and how it affects individuals’ brains and those around them. Oshay’s also offers resources and a sense of community to empower and support families and professionals working with individuals with brain-based disabilities. Additionally, our work extends to supporting various neurodiverse conditions like ADHD, Trauma, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia, falling under the umbrella of “Neurodiversity.” Additionally, we have recently launched a much needed Child Contact, Mediation and Counselling Service within our Centre.

Oshay's are currently looking to recruit Child Contact Centre volunteers to facilitate supported or supervised child contact.
The central concept of a child contact centre is to offer a safe, friendly, neutral, child-centred environment for children to meet their non-resident parent or family member. They are designed to be a stepping stone to a more permanent arrangement for future contact.

Parents/family members can spend time with their children in a supported or supervised context. They can also use the centres to collect and return the children to the other parent at the start and end of visits. Adults do not have to see or speak to each other at contact centres.
