Mentoring our Writing within Walls project

We are looking for volunteers coordinate one of our most exciting project and one that is at the heart of our mission statement - to offer those individuals from the most to disadvantaged backgrounds and circumstances an opportunity excel in creative writing.

We believe that everyone should be able to participate in the opportunities that both industries offer, regardless of their background or personal circumstances. This could be by way of publishing books, or becoming a journalist. Our three core areas of activity are writing workshops, book publishing and mentoring.

Volunteers would remotely mentor creative writing pieces to those in places of exclusion, where people residing there have had little previous opportunities to develop their writing skills. These include places of custody and inner city areas with multiple levels of deprivation, working alongside organisations like Caring in Bristol and other community groups.

The days & times are flexible but we would want someone who can commit to 3-5 hours a week for 6 months.

Volunteers would have an opportunity to develop their own creative writing skills as well as developing a one to one relationship with the mentee.

If you are interested please click the ‘apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on info@volunteerglasgow.org
