URGENT Family Support Mentor - Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire

Do you have lived or professional experience of parenting? Do you want to enable families to make positive lasting change? Can you spare a couple of hours a week? Then this exciting new opportunity may be just what you are looking for!

Quarriers intandem Mentoring Service for young people aged 7 -15 at point of referral is an exciting initiative funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by Inspiring Scotland.  

intandem provides volunteer mentors for care experienced young people who are looked after home across the Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire areas.


intandem has been set up to help young people thrive by matching with a trained volunteer mentor to build a positive, trusting, supportive and secure relationship.


For effective mentoring of the child, some families themselves require mentoring to effect positive lasting change. The home is the heart of the child, and the role of the Family Support Mentor is to work alongside the child’s mentor to mentor the family as we know the change in the child starts at home. 


 


 


Experience required

· Lived or professional experience of parenting, mentoring or coaching
· General understanding of child development and family dynamics.
· Supportive and enabling approach to all family members.
· Good interpersonal skills
· Compassionate and empathetic approach when supporting families with the challenges they face.

Travel expenses

Agreed travel expenses.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 21

Frequency & commitment
Minimum commitment of one year. Flexible to the volunteer and child.

Volunteers (aged 21-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
