Flourishing Families Volunteer

Moving on from primary school to secondary school can be difficult for children, young people and their families. Our new Flourishing Families Project require volunteers to help with both a group based in Hamilton and on a one-to-one support basis.

The role will require the volunteers to do the following:

• To offer time to a young person on a 1:1 or group basis on a weekly basis for 2 to 3 hours, sharing outings and activities
• To build up a trusting supportive relationship with the young person
• To establish and maintain appropriate boundaries within the befriending relationship
• To be aware of and work within COVEY policy, procedure and practice
• To offer acceptance and understanding to a young person
• To be reliable and consistent
• To maintain close communication with COVEY staff through regular support and supervision
• To inform staff of any concerns about the young person
• To respect confidentiality
• To work with an anti-discriminatory approach
• To attend additional training throughout Befriending.
