Gardeners - Carnoustie

We have a beautiful, peaceful community garden surrounding the church here in Carnoustie, which is perfect for the wider enjoyment of local people and visitors.
Currently seeking at least two volunteers with some experience, to work alongside others to maintain and develop the garden. We have a shed full of all the tools and equipment you will need.
The size and layout offer ample opportunity to create new areas of special interest such as planting for wildlife, winter seedheads for birds and other plants to attract bees and insect life. We would also welcome any other interesting ideas you may have.
The main jobs are:
• Maintaining and developing the garden
• Tree/ bush pruning, clearing leaves, weeding, planting and fence painting
• Creating new outdoor features and safe spaces

Experience required

Some basic gardening knowledge
Ability to carry out routine gardening tasks
Capability to follow Health and Safety guidance

Travel details

The garden is a short walk from the main street. Carnoustie has both bus and rail links, and there is some on-site and nearby street parking available.

Training details

Volunteers will be supported, shown how to use equipment and work safely in the garden

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18

Frequency & commitment
Suitable frequency and timing of support will be mutually agreed between volunteer and their supporter

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
