Membership Assistant

The award winning Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join its Membership Team. Set among 10 acres of the poet's cherished Alloway countryside; the site comprises the famous Burns Cottage where the poet was born, the historic landmarks where he set his greatest work, the elegant monument and gardens created in his honour and a modern museum housing the world's most historic collection of his life and works.
Duties of this rule include to promote membership and sign up new members, dispense relevant information to visitors and conduct visitors surveys from the foyer in the Museum.

Main duties include:
To populate the Membership plinth in the Museum foyer, to help deliver on membership targets
To provide a friendly welcome to visitors
To conduct visitor surveys on the tablet provided
To promote and discuss the benefits of NTS membership
To check tickets and fast track visitors into the exhibition, bypassing the admissions desk

Experience required

Essential:
Previous experience of working with members of the public
Desirable:
Display a friendly and welcoming attitude to staff and visitors
AN interest in the life and works of Burns
Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
An existing knowledge of the work of the National Trust
Experience in the use of hand held devices

Volunteers (aged 12-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
