Performing Arts Volunteer

You will help the general smooth operation of children's classes (Music, Dance and Drama).
Duties may include:
Assisting in demonstrations led by class teacher
Supporting participants in small group work
Dissemination and collection of class materials
Light maintenance of equipment items when necessary (eg dusting, changing batteries, changing worn
stickers)
General operational support (setting up instruments, changing shoes, scenery, operating music).

Experience required

Essential skills: Friendly, Good Communicator, Punctual, Responsible and Consistent.
Desirable skills: Experience or interest in Dance, Drama, Theatre, Singing or Playing a Musical Instrument,
Working with children

Training details

Volunteer induction will be over an initial period of 3 weeks:
Week 1: Informal chat (volunteer co-ordinator)
Week 2: Meet with lead staff, observe and shadow
Week 3: Begin carrying out volunteer duties in a phased, agreed approach.
Ongoing, the volunteer co-ordinator will organise check-up calls or emails (at volunteer's discretion and
preference)

Restrictions

Minimum age: 16

Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
