Arts Volunteer

Our children's art workshops offer young people volunteering opportunities that not only support their
applications for further education in the arts but also serve charitable purposes. Through roles such as
assisting mentors, helping with the setup of workshops, and supporting younger participants, volunteers
gain hands-on experience in teaching, leadership, and teamwork. These roles not only develop practical
skills but also foster a sense of community and social responsibility, allowing volunteers to give back to
their local area. The experiences gained demonstrate their commitment to both the arts and charitable
work, strengthening their applications for further education while contributing to meaningful causes.

Experience required

Communication Skills: Engaging with children and artists, encouraging creativity, and explaining tasks
clearly
Organisation: Helping set up and tidy the workspace, ensuring art materials are well-maintained and
organised.
Teamwork: Collaborating with other volunteers, artists, and workshop leaders to create a supportive
environment.
Creativity: An interest in or experience with art-making can help inspire and guide the children in their
projects.
Patience and Empathy: Being understanding and patient with young children as they explore their
creativity at their own pace.
Experience with Children: Any previous experience working with or supporting children would be valuable.

Support
Training details

As part of our approach to supporting volunteers, we aim to offer a relaxed and welcoming induction,
training, and ongoing support process. Volunteers will begin with an informal meet-and-greet before their
first workshop, where they can enjoy a cup of tea, tour the space, and be introduced to the team. From
there, volunteers will have the opportunity to shadow more experienced team members during the initial
sessions, allowing them to learn by doing with guidance provided as needed.
We maintain an open and flexible communication policy, encouraging volunteers to ask questions or seek
advice at any time. Regular, informal check-ins during or after workshops will ensure they feel supported.
To foster peer learning, we will pair new volunteers with more experienced ones, creating a buddy system
for support and knowledge-sharing
In place of formal reviews, we will hold casual feedback sessions where volunteers can discuss their
experiences, challenges, and progress, ensuring they feel confident and well-supported in their roles. This
approach encourages a positive, collaborative environment that helps volunteers build their skills while
feeling valued and comfortable in their work.
