Red Dot Radio - Western General Hosp

The volunteer will join a team presenting the nightly hospital radio request show broadcast from Red Dot radio's studios at the Western General Hospital. The primary tasks are: collecting requests from the wards for the nightly request show, promoting the service to patients and demonstrating how to access it, locating music from the record library, creating the show running order and presenting the programme from 8-10pm.
Travel details
The Red Dot radio studios are located on the second floor of the Western General Hospital, Crewe Road South, Edinburgh EH4 2XU. Parking is available at the Hospital, and it is also on several Lothian bus routes. Requests can also be collected at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Our phone number is 0131 537 5353.

Training details
Training varies, but you'll begin by visiting the wards with a more experienced presenter and get used to chatting patients. You'll also sit in during a request show and be introduced to presenting, as well as attending a technical course for the studio equipment. Ongoing help and training for this will also be given as needed. You'll be part of a team with an experienced presenter.

Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
