Our Habitat Regeneration Programme
is resuming this month, with more native Hebridean
trees to go into the ground on the shores of Loch
Trolamaraig. To date, about 50,000 trees have been
planted in the area between Gleann Lacasdail and the
Postman’s Path, and 20,000 are to be planted this
winter. The area we shall plant in this year is already
home to many ancient native groves and the species
we are planting will help support them in the future.
North Harris Trust staff will be out planting regularly,
and as always we welcome volunteers who wish to
contribute some of their time to the project. Feel free
to get in touch if you are interested.
Volunteers (aged 12-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
