Cardonald Larder Assistant

Good Food Scotland works in practical ways to combat hunger in towns and cities in Scotland.

Our vision is to provide the people of Scotland with community-led shops where people can purchase good quality nutritious food at a low cost, and access support to transition from a food crisis to long-term food security.

Community Supermarkets and Affordable Food Larders have been identified as an important part of the solution to food poverty. They bridge the gap between an acute food crisis, which may currently be addressed by emergency food handouts, and being able to regularly purchase nutritional food at mainstream retailers. Crucially, our Larders also provide a space where broader, wraparound support is offered, such as job skills training, debt and benefits advice, and social activities.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Good Food Scotland, and as Glasgow has an incredible and rich history of volunteering, we are very excited to be part of the Volunteer Glasgow network.

Join Our Team at the Cardonald Larder! We are looking for a shop assistant to volunteer on a Tuesday from 9 am til 1 pm.

The Cardonald Larder is quickly becoming a vibrant hub within the Cardonald area. With lots of members and growing every week, we're eager to expand our volunteer team to meet increasing demand and continue supporting our community.

About the Role:
We're looking for friendly faces to help run our affordable food club in the Cardonald area of Glasgow. No experience is needed - we’ll provide all the training. What’s most important is a positive attitude and a willingness to lend a hand.

At the Cardonald Larder, people come not just to shop but to enjoy a cup of tea, a biscuit, and a chat.
We’re looking for volunteers to help maintain this warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you can make a cup of tea (or three!), that’s a bonus!

What You’ll Do:
Assist with food distribution and customer service
Help with deliveries and stock shelves
Price items and keep shelves stocked, clean, and tidy
Serve refreshments like tea and biscuits
Ensure the space remains tidy and inviting

What We’re Looking For:
A friendly, approachable demeanor
Willingness to pitch in where needed
No prior experience is necessary

Time Commitment:
We ask for at least two hours of your time each week, but if you can offer more, we’d love to discuss that with you.
Our current volunteer hours are on Tuesdays from 9 am til 1 pm.

How to Apply:
If you’re interested in joining us, simply click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered).
Our Larder Coordinator will contact you via email or phone within five working days. If you don’t hear back, check your junk/spam folder or reach out directly to the contact details provided.
