Gardening Team Volunteer

Blooming Bairns is a community-driven constituted group dedicated to creating vibrant green spaces in Falkirk town centre. Our mission is to unite residents through gardening, reduce social isolation, and foster pride in our local area. By transforming underused spaces into flourishing urban gardens, we aim to enhance biodiversity, promote environmental sustainability, and support the mental well-being of our volunteers and community. We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to join us, as we work together to beautify Falkirk and create lasting, positive impacts for both residents and visitors.

Volunteers may assist with a range of activities, including but not limited to:
• Gardening activity including planting, watering, weeding, pruning, digging and clean-up
• Litter Picking
• Event organisation and support
• Administrative tasks
• Fundraising initiatives
• Community outreach and engagement

Experience required

No previous gardening experience or skills are necessary - just a passion for improving Falkirk Town Centre, creating a community, an interest in gardening and someone who enjoys being outdoors and in a team.

Travel details

All our activity takes place in Falkirk Town Centre. Our initial focus is Falkirk High Street and the Cow Wynd but we will broaden our scope to include areas like Newmarket Street, around the Bandstand and down towards Grahamston Station. Our plans also include clearing areas in the town centre to store all our tools, compost facilities and create small community areas. We usually meet outside the Falkirk Delivery office or at at designated work spot.
