CHSS Call Coordinator Volunteer

Chest Heart and Stroke are Scotland’s largest health charity working to help people with chest and heart conditions, stroke and Long Covid live life to the full. Many people living with these conditions experience fear, isolation and loneliness, and struggle to cope with the impact of their health condition on their everyday lives.

Be part of their Advice Line Team as a Call Coordinator volunteer. You will be the first point of contact for all incoming phone calls/e-mails/text messages to the Advice Line telephone support service. You will be given a robust knowledge base and access to support, enabling you to act as a gateway for patients, service users or carers to access other services within Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, or direct them to external partners.

You will have the opportunity to meet new people and make a real difference to those impacted by these health conditions.


Experience required

-Excellent listening and communication skills, respectful of the opinions of others
-Reliable, patient, empathetic, encouraging and supportive
-Ability to work independently with guidance and support
-Understand the need for confidentiality and able to maintain boundaries
-Comfortable to use IT equipment and databases for the purpose of the role (training and support will be provided)
-Ability to commit to initial and ongoing training and development
-Ambassador for Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland

Travel details

This opportunity is home-based.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses should be agreed in advance with the Volunteer Manager and must be accompanied by an appropriate receipt. This includes travel from home, to and from the place of volunteering and any additional travel necessary in the course of volunteering. Car travel is reimbursed at 45p per mile.

Support
Training details

All volunteers are supported by their volunteer manager, usually the Kindness Co-ordinator. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland will provide all necessary training, which will be carried out under the guidance of the volunteer manager. Mandatory training will include: Safeguarding Adults (L2) E-Learning; Roles and Boundaries: Call Coordinator; Condition Awareness; GDPR UK: Essentials E-Learning; Cyber Security Awareness E-Learning
