Music Library Volunteer

OnFife, a registered charity, knows how valuable creativity is to our communities. OnFife spaces are some of Fife’s favourite OnFife appreciate how valuable creativity is to communities. There spaces are some of Fife’s favourite places: museums, theatres, galleries, libraries, and archives.

They are currently looking for volunteers to support the delivery of their Musical Instrument Library and inspire people of all ages to try playing an instrument.

The Musical Instrument Library Volunteers will be public facing, aiming to encourage library users of all ages to borrow a musical instrument; whether they are players or having a go for the first time. If you’re looking to gain experience in musical instruments and connecting with others who share your interests, this might be the volunteer role for you. You will have the opportunity to enhance your confidence and enjoy the satisfaction of helping us to inspire people through music. Let’s spread the joy of music across Fife.


Experience required

-This opportunity is public facing and so good people skills and an enthusiasm to encourage other people to learn about music is important.

-Interest in the Musical Instrument Library, musical instruments and a willingness to learn basic knowledge

-Basic musical instrument maintenance and preparation for loan, full training will be provided.


Travel details

Jennie Lee Library, Lochgelly Centre, Bank Street, Lochgelly, KY5 9RD

Lochgelly Centre has accessible facilities, with the Musical Instrument Library located on ground floor.

There is free parking at Lochgelly Centre. OnFife can help volunteers to make travel arrangements such as providing directions, parking and public transport information.


Travel expenses

Travel expenses are reimbursed on a monthly basis.

Public transport costs are covered and mileage is calculated at 45p per mile for cars 25p per mile for motorcycles and 5p per passenger per mile.

Only travel from within Fife will be reimbursed.


Support
Training details

· Welcoming Induction: Meet there friendly staff, enjoy a tour of the venue and facilities.

· Ongoing Support: Your volunteer supervisor and dedicated venue staff will be there to support and guide you throughout your time with the organisation.

· Engage with staff: Interact with knowledgeable venue staff and learn more about the Musical Instrument Library

Minimum age: 18
Although there is no upper age limit, we have a minimum age limit of 18 to make sure we are meeting our requirements for supporting volunteers. For volunteers aged under 18, we can discuss how we might put appropriate safeguarding in place to make our oppo
