Based in Granton, Empty Kitchens Full Hearts prepares nourishing meals using surplus food. The kitchen is at the heart of what we do. The volunteer opportunities we have available are essential to ensuring that our food is well prepared, fresh and produced in an environment which is clean and safe. The kitchen is operational Monday to Thursday with shifts from or between 9am and 1pm or 1pm to 4pm. We are flexible and happy to talk about how these opportunities could work for you.

Travel details

Our site is at 3-11 West Granton Road, EH5 1HG. Nearby bus routes are the 8, 9(diverted route), 14, 16, 19 and 200. We do not have parking available on site but free parking is usually available in the surrounding streets. We encourage people to consider active travel - we have bike storage, car share or use public transport where possible.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses can be claimed weekly, using a simple online form. Payment is made directly into volunteer's bank accounts where possible.

Inductions are held monthly on site and via video call. One to one inductions and taster sessions can be arranged.
