Community Driver Volunteer

Help Royal Voluntary Service Fife support older people to be independent and stay connected to their communities. We run day centres, weekly community lunch & activity groups, as well as monthly events across Fife, and we are looking for volunteers who would use their own cars (mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile) to transport older adults to and from local groups and events, who are unable to access public transport either due to a disability or the isolation of their location. Community Driver Volunteers transform the lives of older people, by enabling them to take positive steps to stay connect to their community, enjoying the company of others at events and groups, thus reducing their isolation. This is flexible role that can fit in with your availability. You'll get all relevant training, all travel expenses are reimbursed, and you will be welcomed and supported by a friendly, local team!

Experience required

You will need a full driving licence with access to a car, a friendly personality and good communication skills. You must be reliable, have the ability to maintain confidentiality, and be able to confidently volunteer independently (with support from local staff).

Travel details

Royal Voluntary Service in Fife has community services requiring drivers running in the following areas: Dunfermline, the East Neuk of Fife (Crail, Cellardyke, Anstruther, Pittenweem, St Monans, Elie) and Tayport. Our Community Driver Volunteers would use their own cars (expenses are reimbursed) to transport people to/from events or groups in the service areas. All travel expenses are reimbursed.

Travel expenses

All travel expenses are reimbursed; mileage at 45p per mile if using your own car, or public transport costs if applicable (please retain tickets). Travel expenses can be claimed online, weekly or monthly, and are paid directly into your bank account.
