Driver

We provide patient transport for older and vulnerable people who otherwise would struggle to get to their medical appointments. Our volunteers find driving our clients very rewarding as it provides a valuable service for people in need. It also gives them a chance to speak with people from all walks of life with interesting tales to tell.

Experience required

Driving licence required. Attitudes which would be beneficial include being patient and understanding, friendly, chatty and positive.

Travel details

Our clients are scattered all over North East Fife. Most transports are to Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy or Ninewells Dundee, sometimes they just need a short trip to the local GP or dentist, occasionally we are required to travel further to Dunfermline, Edinburgh or Glasow hospitals for operations or chemotherapy. Volunteers use their own vehicles and can claim back fuel expenses from the charity.

Travel expenses

Expenses for mileage from volunteers home to appointment and back are currently paid via BACS or cheque every two weeks. Mileage rate is 45p per mile.
