Volunteer Respite Sitters Required to support children and young people one-to-one

We are an organisation based in the heart of Parkhead, supporting children and young people ages 0-16 years and their families across the north east of Glasgow.

We are well known for our respite services and are looking to recruit interested volunteers to become respite sitters, getting alongside the children and young people, providing a nurturing, person centred much needed support to them in their local community. The volunteer role involves collecting the child from school, nursery or home and arranging learning and recreational activities in the local community, either using our community flat or other amenities, depending on the child's interests and preferences.

The session lasts 4 hours and is offered on a weekly basis for an 8 week period and is an opportunity for the child to have supportive, positive 1-2-1 interaction and respite from the challenges they experience at home, school or family life.

If you're interested, please click the ‘apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on info@volunteerglasgow.org.
