Volunteering details
Join the River Dee and Don teams as they join forces on the Water of Nochty near Strathdon for one of April's volunteering days, planting native trees on the riverbanks. Together we'll be planting trees to: - help increase biodiversity in the Don Catchment - provide vital cooling shade to our warming waters - and help increase important nutrients in the river through falling leaf litter Dates: Friday 11th April & Friday 18th April 2025 Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm Meeting Location: Bellabeg Public Carpark, Strathdon, AB36 8UH Each day will start at 10am and finish around 3pm with frequent rest breaks and lunch provided by the Team. We will be meeting at the Public Carpark in Bellabeg, where we will drive in convoy for a further 5 minutes up to the tree planting site. Please note that there are no toilet facilities available at the tree planting site, and the closest facilities will be those at the Public Carpark in Bellabeg. *Lifts may be available from the Dinnet River Office for those travelling from Deeside (though spaces may be limited) No prior experience is required as our friendly teams will demonstrate tree planting methods on the day. All equipment for the activity will be provided, all that we ask is that you come prepared for outdoor conditions with warm and waterproof clothing, and wellies or walking boots. Under 18’s are also welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Why take part? This is a great opportunity to explore part of the Cairngorms National Park and find out more about our local rivers. You'll be working alongside our friendly team of river staff, and get the opportunity to meet likeminded people while enjoying the outdoors. Help leave a lasting legacy on the riverbanks by planting trees with us. Booking is required as spaces are limited on the day. Please reserve your spot by following the Eventbrite link below, or by contacting the River Dee Trust's Education and Outreach Officer Keilidh Ewan at keilidh@riverdee.org. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tree-planting-volunteer-days-on-the-water-of-nochty-river-don-tickets-1307862394629?aff=oddtdtcreator
