By the River Café @ Highland Hospice provides members of the public, patient visitors, staff and volunteers with home baking, snacks and lunches and is a valuable source of fundraising for the Hospice. The café is counter service and volunteers serve teas, coffees, baking and light lunches prepared in the kitchen.

Main responsibilities:

To provide high standards of customer care to all who visit the café

To serve home baking, snacks, soup and lunches to customers

To handle cash and operate the computerized till and card machine

To operate the coffee machine

To clear tables and keep the café looking presentable for customers entering

To operate the dishwasher when required and return clean dishes to the café

To follow open / close down procedures for the café including cashing up and cleaning the coffee machine

Training:
Induction - including health & Safety
3 shadow training shifts
Food Safety Hygiene – 2 yearly
Moving and Handling (inanimate objects) – 2 yearly
Fire Awareness - yearly

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
