Stock Assistant in Magpie's Eye Gallery charity shop

The Magpie's Eye Gallery is one of Starter Packs Glasgow's two charity shops. It is a vital part of the charity's set up to be self sustaining and also part of our work towards promoting re-use and reducing or avoiding landfill. The Magpie's Eye sells a wide range of items and specialises in the more vintage and high-end high street, including Furniture, Bric-a-brac, clothing, books, music and film, as well as a variety of other collectable and higher value items.

Being a stock assistant has a variety of different tasks that are incredibly helpful to the charity. Helping to sort the donations that come through to the shop, washing or cleaning items before they can go out for sale. Checking the condition of CDs, DVDs, Blue Rays and Records. Making sure items are in good enough condition to go out in the shop. Helping re-stock the shop floor. Steaming the clothing donations to make sure they are clean and presentable for sale and price-tagging them and having the right size cube on the hanger ready for the shop floor. Checking our furniture items are clean, in good condition and ready for sale is another task that is very helpful to the shop.

We appreciate our volunteers time is precious to them, and we like to make sure that they get to be working in parts of the organisation that has an interest for them, so people who love books are placed in our book room, and music fans will get to look after the CD and vinyl racks, fans of fashion who have an eye for the aesthetic in clothing can be working with the clothes section. It is entirely up to you how much time you have to volunteer with us in this role. We can be very flexible with how often you come in and for how long you wish to be here for each volunteer session. The shop is open Monday to Saturday 9:30-5:00pm and we are happy for you to come in at times that suit you.
