Office Support Volunteer

Carnoustie and Monifieth Men’s Shed is an inclusive organisation, managed by a committee of local volunteers and supported by an ever-growing number of male and female members. It is an autonomous, self-governing and democratic place, shaped by and for its members. We make garden chairs, benches, planters, and many more small and large items, work on projects with other community organisations and help to maintain and improve the community spaces around Carnoustie and Monifieth.

The Office Support Volunteer is an important role in helping with the smooth running of our busy Shed. By helping with general office tasks, you will directly contribute to the Shed’s capacity for supporting Members, other volunteers and the wider local community. You will be helping us with general office tasks, such as email and correspondence, organising digital and paper-based files, ensuring easy retrieval and secure storage, ordering supplies, maintaining membership records and ensuring the security of information stored. You may also want to help with social media – just Facebook at present, and only if you have those skills of course. If you are interested in developing your IT skills, we will endeavour to arrange training for you to update the Shed website.

Hours can be variable but likely around 2 to 3 hours per week. If possible, to assist at Monthly Committee meetings and the AGM. The Shed is open between 11am and 3pm on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You will be based in the Shed Office on site at 141 Panmure Street Carnoustie, but also possible to work remotely from home when more suitable.

Your Support: The Shed Committee Secretary will be your support, assisting you in all aspects of the role. A full induction will be provided and if you wish to undertake any training, The Shed will endeavour to help you with your learning and development. Also, for You: As Office Support Volunteer, you will be registered as an ‘Honorary Shed Member’ for the duration, if not already a member in the ‘ordinary sense’. You can be both a volunteer and an active Shed Member. Joining the Shed Team is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference, learn new skills, meet people and make friends in a fun and interesting place.
