Community Advocacy Supporter

Do you believe that everyone should have a voice?
Are you friendly and outgoing?
Then we may have the volunteering opportunity you are looking for.
Advocacy North East is a local charity that provides an essential independent advocacy service for vulnerable adults throughout Aberdeenshire, strengthening the voice of those who are most at risk of exclusion and speaking up for those who might otherwise go unheard.

People affected by dementia can be amongst the most vulnerable in our communities, some may be entirely dependent on others for their care, others may have little or no other networks of support and many may be unaware of their rights.
We are looking for volunteers in all areas to distribute our leaflets in supported accommodation and care homes locally (or further afield) and to pop in occasionally to raise the profile of Independent Advocacy amongst residents and staff. You will be fully trained in advocacy to be able to answer any questions, you will have full support from our training and volunteer coordinator and, of course, you will receive out of pocket expenses.
The time commitment is variable according to your own availability and enthusiasm!
If you think it’s important that everyone should have the opportunity to have their voice heard and you have some spare time to give to a valuable cause, we would really love to hear from you.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses to and from the site of the volunteering activity are paid on a monthly basis.
