The role of Trustee is to provide strategic leadership and governance to ensure the charity meets its mission, values and legal obligations. Trustees are responsible for the well-being of the organisation, overseeing and agreeing the charity’s activities, ensuring financial stability and sustainability, and maintaining public trust. A Trustee will play a key role in setting the long-term direction and making decisions that support the charity’s success.
Roles and Responsibilities: • Act in the charity’s best interests and provide strategic vision to ensure the delivery of the aims and objectives • Ensuring our governance is in line with the constitution. • Ensure the charity is accountable and carrying out its purpose for the benefit of the public. • Uphold the good name and values of the organisation. • To act in good faith in all decision making, ensuring enough information is available, any potential conflict of interest is considered and seek advice if required. • Develop and oversee the strategic plan to ensure long-term sustainability. • Ensure that operational plans and budgets support the vision and strategy and ensure that targets are set, and performance is measured accordingly. • Approving budgets, capital spend, monitoring financial performance and ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable. • Ensure that the views of stakeholders (individual members, member organisations, healthcare professionals, staff and associated personnel) are regularly sought and considered to reach sound decisions. • Ensure that the board regularly reviews the governance structure and its own performance against an agreed programme. Collectively, hold the board to account for the decisions and activities. • Ensure the financial stability of the organisation. • Comply with the Constitution, charity law, company law, Data protection/GDPR and any other relevant legislation or regulations and exercises a duty of care to its members and other stakeholders. • Ensure that the major risks to the organisation are regularly identified and reviewed and that systems are in place to mitigate or minimise these risks. • Act as a spokesperson, as required. • To elect, from the Trustees, people to undertake office bearer roles. • Ensure the well-being and support is in place for all volunteers.
Experience required
A knowledge of charity law and governance is beneficial, as is awareness of medicine or allied professions with a knowledge of pre-hospital care however this is not a pre-requisite.
Travel details
Expected to be around 4 - 8 hours per month. Attendance at quarterly Board meetings in Aberlour is required with remote attendance being an option.

We provide travel and accommodation expenses which require to be approved in advance.
Support
Training details
All new volunteers are provided with an induction to the charity. Guidance will be provided to new Trustees and additional training needs can be assessed as required.

Minimum age: 18
Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
