Companion Volunteer - Edinburgh Hospice

Marie Curie is looking for compassionate people to join our Companion Volunteer Team at Edinburgh Hospice. This is an opportunity to offer warmth, conversation, and presence when it matters most.

What you’ll be part of:



  • Share stories and meaningful conversations

  • Connect through hobbies and interests

  • Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and families

  • Help someone express what matters most to them

Experience required

You’d be a great fit if you are:

Patient and a great listener.
Approachable, and friendly.
Able to commit 3 hours per week.
Comfortable using email and completing short visit reports.

Travel expenses

Expenses reimbursed for mileage via public transport and/or use of own vehicle

Training details

Training provided over 1 day and ongoing support provided throughout

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18

Frequency & commitment
3 hours per week

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
