Support Volunteer for Disabled Ramblers

Forth and Tay Disabled Ramblers is a registered charity who support disabled people to access the outdoors using mobility scooters. Rambles take place approx. three times a month between April-October. The group have day long rambles and shorter rambles called Scoots. The Scoots take place once a month, between April-October around Glenrothes, starting from a garage in Glenrothes. The members benefit greatly from both the activity and the social aspects of the group.

The group needs volunteers to run the Scoots. This involves taking the mobility scooters in and out of the garage, to the disabled ramblers. Assisting the ramblers if needed. Walking with the ramblers and looking out for any risk factors. There is a set programme of scoots each year with set dates, and volunteers put their name against the days that they can help. So you can do as much or as little as suits you.

Experience required

Ability to ride and or manoeuvre mobility scooters. Ability to walk around 3 miles. Good social and communication skills. Friendly caring attitude. People who enjoy walking and the outdoors.

Travel details

The Scoots start and end at a garage in Glenrothes and the scoots take place at local walks/parks in Glenrothes. Volunteers travel independently to the garage and can claim travel expenses.
