Silverburn Park in Leven are launching their beach wheelchair rental service and need volunteers to help get it off the ground. Can you commit 3.5 hours weekly or fortnightly to be the customer contact for beach wheelchair hire?

Tasks include:

-Using the online booking service and preparing beach wheelchairs.
-Calling customers to confirm bookings.
-Greeting users.
-Demonstrating how to adjust the chairs and use the brakes.
-Giving information about the park and beach.
-Checking the beach wheelchairs back in and cleaning them.
-Checking for any damage and reporting any issues.
-Answering questions from other park users.

Full training and support will be provided.

Timetable
Tuesday morning 9.15am- 12.45pm
or
Tuesday afternoon 12.45pm-4.15pm
or
Wednesday morning 9.15am- 12.45pm

This is an ideal project for anyone wanting to get experience in health and social care or customer service.

Experience required

You need to be friendly and welcoming and be confident in speaking to customers. If you have experience working with wheelchair users, that’s a plus but not essential.

Travel details

Silverburn Park Leven. Largo Road KY8 5PU Silverburn Park is on the 95 bus route (request stop) or a 20-minute walk from Letham Glen, Leven which is served by numerous bus routes.

Travel expenses

We can reimburse public transport tickets. Drivers can claim 25p per mil to cover petrol. Both will be paid at the end of each month

Training details

Volunteers will be trained on how the beach wheelchairs work and how to check them in and out. They’ll be trained in customer service and how to use the online booking service.
