Treasurer

Denny Stroke Club is a volunteer run, user led community organisation, partnered with Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland and Falkirk Council. The Club provides peer support to stroke survivors, their friends and families allowing space to meet weekly and socialise with people who understand what they are going through. The Club runs for 46 weeks of the year.

The Club offers a routine to members who may not otherwise have one and they are currently looking to recruit a Treasurer to join the team. The role of Treasurer is to be responsible for the accurate and confidential keeping of the Club’s financial details including:


  • supplying information to and supporting the development of funding applications.

  • managing the Club's monies: petty cash and expenses (required in person once per month minimum)

  • keeping accurate financial records

  • preparing accounts for an independent auditor in preparation for the AGM

  • paying bills/invoices

  • storing financial records securely


Experience required


  • Understanding good governance (CHSS can offer support)

  • Ability to keep accurate financial records

  • Good communication and listening skills

  • Able to work confidentially


Travel details

This opportunity mainly takes place from home.
Sessions take place at Denny Library, Davies Row, Denny, FK6 6FA.

Travel expenses

40p per mile reimbursed monthly.

Support
Training details

CHSS training and general information about chest, heart and stroke conditions. Ongoing shadowing and peer support/mentoring by the Stroke Club and any other relevant external training that can be accessed.

Frequency & commitment
3 hours per week. The group runs on a Friday 2pm - 4pm with the requirement to attend at least once per month. All other duties can be carried out at home on a flexible basis. We would hope the person would commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
