Group Coordinator

Denny Stroke Club is a volunteer run, user led community organisation. The Club provides peer support to stroke survivors, their friends and families allowing space to meet and socialise with people who understand what they are going through. Meeting for 2 hours per week over 46 weeks of the year, the group offers a routine to members who may not otherwise have one, giving something to look forward to each week.

The main role of the Group Coordinator is to plan weekly sessions which ensures that club participants feel included and respected. Other tasks involved in this role include:

*Being the lead person and contact for weekly meetings
*Support/Mentor other volunteers
*Monitor petty cash and liaise with the Treasurer
*Buy bulk supplies for the group sessions (tea/coffee, biscuits etc)
*Arrange bookings (venue, outings and entertainment)
*Organise raffles, tombola's, cards and cakes etc.
*Authorise volunteer travel expenses
*Completing risk assessments and incident reports where required
*Deal with new member referrals and volunteer enquiries


Experience required

Good leadership and organisational skills.
Previous experience within a similar role would be beneficial but not necessary.
Empathy and good communication skills.
Teamwork, being open and honest and respectful.

Denny Library, Davies Row, Denny, FK6 6FA.

Travel expenses

40p per mile reimbursed monthly.

Support
Training details

CHSS training and general information about chest, heart and stroke conditions. Ongoing shadowing and peer support/mentoring by the Stroke Club and other relevant external training that can be accessed.

Minimum age: 18
PVG required.

Frequency & commitment
3hours per week. Fridays 2pm - 4pm. We would hope the person would commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
