Community Orchard Volunteer

Knights Templar Goodwill Charity of Scotland is dedicated to alleviating poverty and assisting those in need in Scotland by providing essential care packages, food, clothing and long-term support for veterans, homeless and those living in poverty.

They require volunteers for their community orchard located at the back of their premises in Cowdenbeath. This role would suit someone who likes being outdoors and enjoys gardening activities. Tasks include manual watering of the established fruit trees, weekly grass cutting with a petrol lawnmower, mulching, weeding and general garden maintenance. This role is vital to maintain the orchard for the benefit of the local community.

Experience required

No experience is necessary as training will be provided. Volunteers should work well on their own as well as part of a team.

Travel details

This opportunity takes place at the community orchard located behind Unit 12, Thistle Innovation Park, Cowdenbeath, KY4 8LP on Monday 9.30 – 2.30, Wednesday 9.30 – 2.30, Thursday 4 – 9 and Saturday 10 – 3. The volunteer can choose times to suit and do not need to attend on each of the days. The orchard is accessible by both private and public transport.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses will be reimbursed on a case-by-case basis at public transport rates.

Training details

An induction will be provided, and full training will be provided on use of the gardening equipment. Ongoing training and support will be provided.
