The Peoples Hub Scottish Equality Volunteers

Volunteering details

About the Event:
The Justice Sector Equalities Conference 2025, hosted by the Fair Justice System for Scotland (FJSS) Group, will be held on August 28, 2025, in Edinburgh. The conference brings together legal professionals, policymakers, and community groups to address systemic inequalities within the justice system and promote a more inclusive society. Key themes include representation in the legal profession, a human rights-based approach to justice, and the impact of historical injustices like the Windrush scandal in Scotland.

Responsibilities:
As a student volunteer, you will be instrumental in the conference's success by:

Creating Workable Reports: You will help synthesize key findings and proposed solutions from the conference sessions into accessible and actionable reports. These reports will go beyond simple summaries by focusing on practical next steps.

Using Storytelling to Create Ripples: You will assist in capturing and sharing personal stories and experiences from the event. By transforming these narratives into compelling content, you will help amplify the conference's message and inspire wider change. This will help "create ripples" of awareness and action throughout the community.

General Conference Support: Assisting with registration, guiding attendees, and providing logistical support to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Why this is a Great Opportunity for a Student:
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in event management, policy analysis, and strategic communication. You will be at the forefront of discussions shaping the future of justice in Scotland, providing a valuable networking opportunity and a chance to apply your academic knowledge to real-world issues. Your contributions will directly help the FJSS Group alongside The Peoples Hub in their mission to create a fair, just, tolerant, and inclusive Scotland.
