Retail Bookshop Volunteer (Trongate)

Opportunity Description

Do you have a passion for books, music, and media? Can you tell your Dickens from your Colleen Hoover—and love the buzz of a busy, creative space?

We’re looking for volunteers to join our retail bookshop team in Trongate, Glasgow. This unique space celebrates culture and community through books, music, and media, and your support will help raise vital funds for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s life-changing work.

What you’ll do as a volunteer:

Welcome and assist customers, offering friendly and helpful service.
Serve at the till and handle sales transactions.
Support the stockroom by sorting, ticketing, hanging, and pricing donated stock.
Help maintain a clean, tidy, and inviting shop environment.
Create attractive displays and ensure items are well presented.

Timings & Commitment:

Flexible shifts are available Monday to Saturday during shop opening hours.
Volunteers are encouraged to commit to at least one regular shift per week (typically 3–4 hours), but more time is welcome.
Trial shifts are available so you can see if the role is a good fit.

Training & Support:

All volunteers receive a full induction and ongoing guidance from the Shop Manager and team.
Training includes Manual Handling and Gift Aid modules, along with on-the-job coaching.
You’ll be fully supported throughout your time in the role and encouraged to develop new skills in customer service, retail operations, and teamwork.
