Our charity is passionate about having a strong presence on the day of The Beast Race - proudly flying our charity colours and raising awareness of the important relationship between physical health and mental health. We are therefore making a hopeful appeal for support from our local community in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in the form of volunteering.

We would be delighted if any members of our local community would consider joining #TeamSAMH and kindly volunteering their time for our charity on the day of The Beast Race – helping us to cheer on more than 200 supporters who are generously taking part in the event to raise funds for Scotland’s mental health.

The Beast Race is taking place on Saturday 20th September 2025 and we have included some key information about volunteering with us below:

• The event will be running from approximately 9am to 3pm.
• We are appealing for volunteers to support us for either a half-day (morning or afternoon) or the full day.
• Our charity can gladly cover the travel expenses of our volunteers and a food voucher for a free lunch from the event catering on offer.
• We would be delighted to offer a free and official SAMH t-shirt for each generous volunteer.
• There are a range of volunteer roles available, including supporting on the registration desk, being a point of contact at obstacles, as well as stewarding runners and offering directions.

Travel expenses

Volunteers are asked to kindly organise their own travel arrangements to and from the location, however SAMH can gladly reimburse travel costs, alongside offering a free lunch to each generous volunteer for their time.
