Join our friendly team supporting visitors during prison visiting times.
What you’ll do:
Serve hot drinks and light refreshments
Welcome visitors with a friendly, non-judgemental attitude
Handle simple payments (training provided)
Keep the tea bar clean and stocked
What you’ll gain:

Flexible shifts:
Volunteer once a week or once every fortnight
Tea bar shifts available seven days a week

No previous experience required

Experience required
No prior skills are required, as full training will be provided along with ongoing support. Volunteers just need a willingness to help, a non-judgemental attitude.
Travel details
By Car:
Take exit 12 for Stepps and Riddrie. At Riddrie library, turn onto Teith Street, then left onto Smithycroft Road, and take the first right onto Lee Avenue, where the prison is located.
By Bus:
The most frequent buses to Barlinnie are 38, 38A, and 38C, operated by First Glasgow. These services run from Eastwood Toll through to Garthamlock/The Fort, passing both Queen Street and Central Stations in Glasgow City Centre—making them convenient for visitors using the rail network.

Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
