Native Tree Nursery Assistant

About this event

Join our passionate team working to grow native trees for woodland restoration efforts in the Angus Glens. As
a Volunteer Nursery Assistant, you’ll support the production of native Scottish trees from locally collected seed,
contributing directly to biodiversity and landscape regeneration efforts

Volunteering details

Key Responsibilities
● Seed Collection & Processing (Seasonal - Autumn and Spring): Assist in the ethical
hand-collection, cleaning, drying, and storing of native tree seed.
● Sowing & Transplanting (Seasonal - Winter and Spring): Help sow seeds in root trainers, transplant
seedlings, and care for young trees in polytunnels and hardening-off areas.
● Weeding, Watering & Maintenance: Support daily nursery tasks to keep plants healthy and thriving.
● Labelling & Record Keeping: Help label trays, update simple planting records, and support
provenance tracking.
● Site Upkeep: Assist with general tidying, tool cleaning, and creating a safe, welcoming environment.
What We’re Looking For
● A love of the outdoors and interest in native trees, conservation, or sustainable land use.
● Willingness to get your hands dirty and work in varying weather.
● Attention to detail and a careful, respectful approach to plants.
● No previous experience necessary – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

What You’ll Gain
